We are all aware of the importance of safeguarding the environment for our generation and those that will follow us, and it is now established that individual behaviors play a decisive role in this regard.
each of us is required to give our own contribution to keep our “common home” clean and tidy.
What perhaps escapes us is that some gestures, although apparently distant, can unexpectedly help us in this noble intent.
One of these is… sitting comfortably in the living room!
It seems strange, but if we think about it, even the choice of furniture for our living room has an impact on the health of the planet: at MUNARI we are well aware of this, and for years we have been organizing and managing our production process in a sustainable way:
- It is intuitive to consider that the raw materials with which we build our furniture (wood, glass and ceramic) are naturally predisposed to recycling: in addition to this, the semi-finished panels that we purchase from our supply chain are the result of an accurate standardization of the measurements, which allows our suppliers to optimize their production process.
- These panels are then in turn cut according to pre-set shapes that minimize waste, and the resulting components become part of different products, so as to reduce cutting operations: let’s always remember that a lean and efficient production process consumes less energy!
- All processing waste is collected separately and sent for separate disposal/recycling. In particular, wood chips do not even enter the waste circuit, but are collected in dedicated silos and sent to specialized companies that reintroduce them directly into the production chains. An “artfully carved” example of circular economy!
- The entire production layout and internal logistics have been designed and are organized to minimize the number and distance of movements, reducing the energy consumption of overhead cranes and forklifts.
- The design of our products also helps the environment: the essential lines and minimal style that characterize MUNARI furniture mean that some furnishing elements (for example wall units and display cabinets) lend themselves to being part of multiple collections, compositions and environments (living room, entrance, etc.). This allows us to optimize the number and use of components, streamlining the production process.
- In addition, we are looking to the future with a green perspective: we have begun the path that will lead to FSC and PEFC certification, and we will soon plan all the related activities.
With MUNARI furniture you can help our planet every day, while sitting comfortably!
